like ray-yay-yain on yer wedding day (which is not really ironic, but whatever)

Remember when Rand Paul was "detained" by TSA for refusing a pat down? Oh, how the calls of injustice followed. The Tea Party / Libertarian / Paultard howled that it was yet another example of a too-powerful government trampling on the liberty of the individual. In fact, Paul himself said,
I think there’s a breaking point where we’re invading people’s privacy and we’re invading their dignity.
Guess where he was heading at the time? A pro-life rally.

You can't make this stuff up.

is jon stewart a closet punk?

Jon! You sly dog, why you been hiding this? This doubles your cool quotient.

when covers trump the originals

Was talking to Wifey the other day about which cover songs are better than the originals. My two best examples were Van Halen covering the Kinks "You Really Got Me" and the Pixies covering Joy Division's the Jesus and Mary Chain's"Head On".

I don't know how to make the transition in an elegant way, but this "cover" of a Samsung ad makes me want a Galaxy tab like a million times more than the original.

idiocracy

Although I think U.S. policy towards Cuba continues to be laughably misguided, me and Fidel Castro do not normally see eye to eye. But then he said this:
The selection of a Republican candidate for the presidency of this globalized and expansive empire is - and I mean this seriously - the greatest competition of idiocy and ignorance that has ever been.
Pretty much spot on analysis. It's gotten to the point where I actually feel bad for rational Republicans.

"accept what god has given to you"

Hey Mitt! Rick Santorum sees your "turning your back on a cancer victim" and raises you a "dear rape victims: accept what God has given you".

The notion of "standing your ground" regarding your position is laudable in theory, but very, very ugly in practice.

That's quite a field you have there, my Republican friends.

batty batty batty

[Title is a Hollywood Shuffle] reference for all you youngsters]

So the ol' money pit [that's a Money Pit reference for all you whippersnappers] needs some roof work. We're in the midst of figuring out what we're gonna do. One option getting crossed off the list pronto is clay tile roofing. Not about to become a hostel for a bunch of Draculas [that's a Dracula reference for you meddling kids].

muso

Has anyone had stuff removed from MediaFire because of copyright claims by Muso.com? I just got one for the Opposition seven inch I posted a while back. If someone from that band wants it down, I have no problem. But I don't think that's the case. On YouTube I've had takedowns on some of the most obscure stuff ever, so I'm paranoid that there are copyright cowboys out there flagging anything and everything, regardless if the actual copyright owners give a shit.

buh bye norv. buh bye a.j. buh bye raiders.

Knowing that the Chargers were not making the playoffs, today could not have have gone better. The Raiders needed to beat the Chargers to lose and also needed the Broncos to lose in order to make the playoffs. Well, the Broncos lost. But the Chargers came through and dashed the hope and dreams of Raider Nation.

The Chargers are probably going to fire Norv and AJ PLUS the ruin the Raiders season? Best Sunday ever in a while.
