dan padilla - what are we here for (awesomefest 5)

I don't know if it was because of the Davey Tiltwheel-San Diego nexus or what, but the Dan Padilla set was probably the most packed of any of the bands I saw.

shark pants at awesomefest 5

I had really only heard Shark Pants on one of those Recess Records lable sampler CD's. I for sure liked the one song I heard (Water Gun), so I was mighty intrigued. They did not disappoint.

the white wires at awesomefest 5

By the time I finish uploading all my video from AwesomeFest 5, it'll be time for AwesomeFest 6.

Anyways, here's the White Wires. I dare someone to listen to these two songs and then tell me these guys (and gal) shouldn't be huge. Absolutely catchy pop that makes me feel good about life.

it ain't over

So that money you gave to Komen find a cure for breast cancer? Part of it went to pay Ari freaking Fleisher to make sure the next Senior Vice President would tow the line and defund Planned Parenthood. This ain't getting swept under the rug.
Ari Fleischer, former press secretary for George W. Bush and prominent right-wing pundit, was secretly involved in the Komen Foundation’s strategy regarding Planned Parenthood. Fleischer personally interviewed candidates for the position of “Senior Vice President for Communications and External Relations” at Komen last December.

Unbelievable that an organization that was the recipient of so much generosity and has such a noble agenda could be so stupid as to let the politics of abortion get in the way of its mission.
