hi-standard - california dreamin' (1996 fat wreck chords)



A lot of people are into Japanese hardcore. I am not one of those people. Just never appealed to me. Japanese pop-punk, however, is right up my alley. And Hi-Standard is one the best Japanese pop-punk bands to have ever existed.

    That first album on Fat Wreck Chords, "Growing up" i think, from -95 was just brilliant. Came around the same time as yet another brilliant Snuff record on that very same label. Still listen to both those albums a couple of times a year.

    The guitar riffs on Maximum Overdrive from that 1st Fat record make me shiver, they're so good.
