counter clockwise dancefloor, counter culture hardcore

This In Defence ditty reminds me of the first time I witnessed 'hardcore dancing'. It was at the Che Cafe, and all the floorpunching and kung fu shit, gah. My first instinct was to laugh, but after a few minutes it dawned upon me that no, this was not a big joke. These kids doing windmills were wholly serious, and apparently spent time practicing their moves for for the big show. My laughter morphed into to confusion to sorrow to pity and finally to utter disdain.

  1. saw these guys with off with their heads, the riot before, heart sounds, and nothington a few weeks ago in denver. i came in towards the end of their set, and did get to see them play this song.

they were clearly having a good time, despite the crowd being a different one than i'm guessing they're used to. the crowd gave some mild applause, but it was obviously not a great bill for them to be on.

i felt a little bad for them since they were on tour and denver wasn't being all that supportive.

after the show, i went to pick up some merch. all the bands were on tour that night, so i tried to buy something from all of them.

i got to the in defence table, and was feeling hesitant, since i didn't really like their music either. i asked the singer what the most poppy record/cd they had was, and he suggested the new one. i picked up a cd, just to support them. they had a sign up near their price list that indicated to me that merch sales weren't going great for this tour.

i figured i'd never really listen to the cd, but i could give it away or something. after watching this video, i'm stoked to have supported them. what a great sense of humor.

    thanks for posting it.

  3. I was tipped off to these guys by my cousin's husband, Bill. Very talented artist and all around good guy.

They have another video that was shot in a Taco Bell. I believe, after their show was canceled...but I could be wrong. It's worth viewing as it clearly showing they have a sense of humor and know how to rock.
I'm becoming a fan now myself, and thats no small thing in that I'm now old and finding it more and more difficult to find new music that I like.

Anyway, this is a great video. Thanks for the link up.
