Free Verse - Access Denied (1998 Brain Floss)

This has probably been passed over thousands of times in record stores across the country. The bad artwork simply gives no clue to what's inside. Look at it. What do you think you're going to find inside? Probably not what you think.

Mix Bikini Kill and Babes In Toyland, maybe with a little dash of Red Aunts, and you'll be in the ballpark. Kick ass, angry female punk from Lawrence, Kansas. I have no idea why they are not as well known as their influences.

Kill Culture - The Hate EP (1995 Inertia)

If you haven't noticed, Wave II of me posting music again is focused on releases I own, good or bad, that aren't easily found on other blogs, SLSK, Bandcamp, etc. Kill Culture is indicative of this new approach. No only could I not find this EP digitally, but I couldn't really find anything about the band. There's no insert, address is a P.O. Box in LA. So, I know nothing about this, except that I bet they were big Ministry fans.

The Unit Breed / Reina Aveja Split (1999 Nothing Enterprises / Deplorable Records)

I posted Reina Aveja not too long ago, and that description applies here as well. The Unit Breed was also tied into the Probe Records universe somehow. They are centered around Joseph Demaree, with  rotating cast of bandmates (including at one point, Matty Luv) and styles which makes them impossible to pin down musically. These two songs are screamy noise rock.

  2. The Unit Breed - Feeling Empy

Vilently Ill - Where Is The Next Wave? EP (2006 Peer Pressure Zombie)

Longtime lo-fi, one-man project from Andrew Lersten from Bunny Skulls. Short songs that make you say, "Hey, I can do that." I mean that as a compliment.

O Pioneers!!! - This Is How I Feel EP (2009 Whoa Oh)

A band I'll always confuse with (Young) Pioneers because I am stupid. They really should have done a split. Doesn't matter that they did not exist at the same time. Like I said, I'm stupid.

This is a one-track, single-sided (duh, have you figured out I'm stupid yet?) release that I'm going to pretend is dedicated to Limp Bizkit based on run-out etchings and the "3 Dollar bill y'all" comment on the back sleeve.
