Yo Hablo EP (1996 Lengua Armada)

Hardcore comp dedicated to  "the mistreated woman". The songs aren't uniformly about women though, and the Jara track is especially timely:

Listen to the man on the radio
He's got a one minute spot
So he makes it good
No holds barred
So let racist lies fly
Talking genocide so gingerly
And talking so unashamed
Being on the north side
Must make it so easy
He's talking about one language
He's talking about a purified culture
Racial fear disguised as the American Dream
I can almost see the crosses burning
I can almost smell the body pits
Smells like maybe Auschwitz did
Except the lampshades will  illuminate a darker tone
Border Patrol builds higher fences
Border Patrol gets bigger guns
Drawing another lie in the sand
The Gestapo now rides the Rio Grande
Advancing another line in the sand
All of this for another line in the sand

  2. Animal Farm - Our Enemy
  3. Arma Contra Arma - Huevos Hinchados
  4. Haymarket - Slap Happy
  5. Jara - One Minute Spot

Worse Than Alternative, It's Another Punk Comp (1999 Trend Is Dead / Reinforcement)

12 Songs You Won't Like By 12 Bands You've Never Heard of From Boise, Idaho (1995 Spudtown Records)

Solid comp of Boise bands. Standouts for me are the Fondled-ish Skidfish, early FYP-esque Freak In A Jar, and Potato Potato with their husky M Blanket type vocals. Only 500 of these were pressed.
  1. Angered Youth - Countdown
  2. Skidfish - Reagan's Got Alzheimer's
  3. Malnutrition - Evolution
  4. Freak In A Jar - Kick Your Momma When She's Down
  5. Haggis - No Direction
  6. The Mosquitones - Red Beer
  7. The Adversives - Drop Out
  8. Potato Potato - We Should Call It Lucky
  9. Dink - Fuckin' Around
  10. Citizen Angst - Bad Cop/Religion
  11. Life After Johnny - Nampa
  12. One Fantastic Mouth - You Bad

Six-O-Seven - Take It Light EP (1998 Crap Records)

Named after their New York area code, I guess you would call Six-O-Seven emotional hardcore in the mid-90's sense. I don't know. I've completely lost the ability to classify anything anymore. Two of these songs were on the "Cause That's The Way You Like It, Baby" comp, also on Crap Records, which is how I first heard about them.

  1. Flip
  2. Anyway
  3. Return
  4. Trainbrain
  5. Repaved
