Stink - I Don't Want Anything That You've Got EP (1995 Mutant Pop)

I Don't Want Anything That You've Got album cover

Seattle's Stink always confused me. They were on the right labels, did splits with the right bands (side note: I  didn't know Building Club was Everready until VBJ informed me), had good songs, but just never seemed to make the leap out of relatively obscurity. This EP has one high tempo punk song on the A -Side and, true to their Northwest roots, a more grunge-y song on the flip.

  1. I Don't Want Anything That You've Got
  2. She Don't Mind

The Bouncing Souls / Buglite Split EP (1994 Creep Records)

Tales Of Doomed Romance By / Buglite album cover

Two early versions of some pretty well known Bouncing Souls songs, including the often-misaccredited-to-Johnny-Cash (including by me) cover of "Born To Lose". Much less well-known but possibly more beloved by their fans are PA's Buglite, who contribute two perfect pop songs. There are more polished versions of all these songs out there, but they are no match for the rawer versions here. A near perfect split.

1. Bouncing Souls - QuickCheck Girl
2. Bouncing Souls - Born To Lose [Ted Daffan & His Texans]
3. Buglite - She Loves Me
4. Buglite - Just A Dream

V/A Kangaroo Vs. Wicked Witch (1996 Kangaroo / Wicked Witch Records)

Kangaroo VS Wicked Witch (Vinyl, 7", EP, 33 ⅓ RPM, Compilation) album cover

Great comp by these two Dutch labels, with many of these songs pre-dating the founding of either one. All over the map, literally, with bands from the Netherlands, Australia, Japan, the UK, and US. Lots of good stuff here, but the lead track by the Blitz Babiez is the head and shoulders highlight for me.
  1. Blitz Babiez - Gratznog (AU)
  2. Toe To Toe - Judas (AU)
  3. Lärm - Destroy Sexism (NL)
  4. Human Alert - No More Lambadas (NL)
  5. Aftermath - The Naked Truth (UK)
  6. The Eat - Subhuman (US)
  7. Beyond Description - Boil (JP)
