Like, I get why today's election went the way it did, and Republicanism was clearly rejected. The 10 months of Trump II has felt like 10 years. But that's what confuses me.... so did Trump I! I just don't understand how the 4 years of the Biden administration - not great, but mostly competent and not terrible in context - wiped so many people's memories of the Trump years. Lots of "it wasn't that bad" from people who knew it was that bad! The same sort of rosy retrospection happened with GWB. I'm pretty confident, Trumpism will continue to be rejected while he is in office. But WTF happens to people brains when he is not in office is an all-time mystery.
