You may have noticed that I've transitioned from just ripping my vinyl collection to posting some more obscure stuff. It's generally stuff that has absolutely no presence online. No streaming, no Bandcamp, no YouTube. You'll find that I lean heavy on bands from San Diego, as that's what's gonna be in local thrift shops. There are two main reasons I do this.
First, I want to make sure the artists are recognized for their work. Even if it's not my cup of tea, each release took someone to write the songs, perform them, record it, mix it, master it, manufacture it, distribute it. It meant something to a lot of people and for it to just disappear is kind of, well, sad. Plus, I learned the hard way, after posting something, being kind of negative about it, and then having one of the artists comment on my comments (in a nice way), that it's fucked up for a talentless fuck like me to be publicly negative about someone else's work. I don't have to like it, but I don't need to fucking post about it. I'm not an artist, and I'm not a music critic. So I'll lean in to just getting stuff out there and letting all 16 of you make up your own minds.
Second, maybe having it out there will help it sell in my Discogs store. See, I can still be an non-altruistic dick. Now let's move some units!
So that brings us to Bender. A two-man band (mostly) from somewhere in San Diego County I assume. See the two paragraphs up, sentence number five.
As one of the illustrious, aforementioned 16, I will take a lesson from you and refrain from directly commenting on Bender's music (ahem). Instead, I'll just say that I'm pleased you've taken to posting again on the regular. Snatched from the seas of utter obscurity and deposited onto the rocky shores of mere semi-obscurity by intrepid record depot scavengers like yourself, these things are always interesting (or at least amusing) to sample, even when there is no mystery whatsoever as to how they ended up in the discount bin. Cheers.
