Marble - My House Is A Goner (1998 Pep-O-Mint Records)

My House Is A Goner (Vinyl, 7", EP, 33 ⅓ RPM) album cover

Marble was from the NCR, and with their raspy-vocaled, mid-tempo punk rock, their influence seems to come from DC and the East Bay. I can't say that for sure because this was the only release by them, and band members, at least per Discogs, didn't do a whole lot after. Which is a shame because this is a really good record.   I had never heard of them until this was loaned to me for digitization purposes. I'm glad I know of this now.

The Pattern - Wet Circuit City EP (2001 Alternative Tentacles)

The Pattern features Christopher Appelgren from the Peechees / Comet Gain / Lookout Records on vocals. Here's an embarrassing thing: I always thought that Carlos Canedo was the singer of the Peechees and the Pattern until I posted this. I honestly thought the lineage was Rice -> The Peechees -> The Pattern. But Carlos Canedo was never in The Pattern. Huh. My bad.

Anywho, this is kind of a natural progression from the Peechees, a little slicker, but still gloriously garagey. "Sunned Things Speak" made it on to many early 00s mix CDs I made. It's a jam.

Verbal Assault - Tiny Giants EP (1988 Giant Records)

Tiny Giants album cover

It's kind of hard to believe that Verbal Assault never released anything on Dischord. "Tiny Giants" is has a Dischord-emo vibe with some reggae touches, while "More Than Music" is just an excellent Dischord-ish punk song. Not on Dischord!

Fanatics - Beating Up Bankers EP (1994 Fun Addict Records)

Beating Up Bankers (Vinyl, 7", EP) album cover

Oof. It's been a bit. Sorry about that.

Anyways, don't judge a record by it's cover. The cover screams corny mohawk punk, but Colorado's Fanatics were a three piece hardcore band with dual vocals and some heavy grindcore / powerviolence elements mixed in. Good stuff.
