Astro Zombies - The Meat Grinder Of Our Corruption (1991 Community C Records)

The Meat Grinder Of Our Corruption (Vinyl, 7", 45 RPM, EP) album cover

Way too good for nobody outside of the Northeast to have ever heard of (I assume). Reminds me of a dozen different bands, yet strangely I can't name a single one. For sure some Flipper in there...what else?

  1. Fountain Head
  2. Fishlips
  3. Ooooh Baby I Miss You
  4. Planet Of The Apes

Adickdid - All American Girl EP (1993 IMP Records)

All American Girl (Vinyl, 7", 45 RPM, Single) album cover

Adickdid was part of the northwest riot grrrl scene, and while they were not that well known, members would go on to form Team Dresch and The Butchies. "Colombus" could have been on Bleach.

  1. All American Girl
  2. Colombus

Limecell - Crack Hooker EP (1995 Blackhole Records)

Crack Hooker (Vinyl, 7", EP) album cover

Part of the Confederacy Of Scum with Antiseen, Cocknoose, Tunnel Rats and others, which should give you a good idea where this is coming from lyrically and musically, if it wasn't already apparent by the title.
  1. Crack Hooker
  2. Let's End It
  3. Dept. Head
  4. I'm Drunk

Man Dingo - All The Songs You've Always Hated (1995 Dr. Strange Records)

I love this band but they bug the shit out of me and if you have mp3 OCD, you know what I mean. Man Dingo? Mandingo? ManDingo? They use all three, and that's just not cool. Also, the name is what some might call (oh my favorite term!) "problematic", but these guys have always come across as decent people (even if they are from Arizona), so if anyone has a back story on the band name, please share.

This EP features covers of the Eagles, Huey Lewis & The News, and Van Halen. True to the title, none of these are obvious choices for covers. But it's still a fun listen.

Also, when is someone going to put out a remastered version of ifive? Great album with some of the worst production I've ever heard. Also, while I'm dissing Dr. Strange, the record says 45rpm, it's not, and the track order on the labels is all out of whack.
  1. Already Gone [The Eagles]
  2. Walking On A Thin Line [Huey Lewis & The News]
  3. Romeo Delight [Van Halen]

The Clocks - S/T EP (1999 Track Star / Broken Glass Records)

This was sent to me. Never heard of them before. The name of the band, the artwork, I just didn't have a good feeling about this. But book/cover and all, I was really surprised how good this is. Indie rock has become about as useful to describe band as "punk" is, but when I think of the indie rock I like, this is it. Noisy and punk at the fringes. Good stuff.

  1. They Both Wear Black

Dead Set Against / Sleepless Nights Split EP (2007 High Fidelity Records)

Dead Set Against / Sleepless Nights (Vinyl, 7", 33 ⅓ RPM) album cover

Back. Work and home have been crazy. Should be able to get back on a similar regular schedule soon.

Sleepless Nights are a Swedish band who honestly, I know nothing about. Dead Set Against are from the great Central Coast of California. Like for real, the Central Coast is the best. Possibly the only place that could pull me from San Diego. Where was I? I know a little bit more about Dead Set Against only because my best friend's sister is good friends with the wife of the guitarist. So, like, I'm basically in the band.

  1. Dead Set Against - One Famous Corpse
  2. Dead Set Against - Human Torch
  3. Sleepless Nights - Slaves Of Illusion
  4. Sleepless Nights - Doomsday Prophecy
