obama leads, they follow

There's a pattern in case you haven't been following.
  1. Obama says something that, if you take a breath and think about it logically, makes perfect sense.
  2. Neo-cons flip out about the sensible thing Obama said.
  3. Time passes.
  4. The people who flipped out about Obama's sensible idea, now embrace it as their own sensible idea.
Happened with a timetable for Iraq, happened over Pakistan's borders, and now it's happening with Iran.
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Five former U.S. secretaries of state said on Monday the next American administration should talk to Iran, a foe President George W. Bush has generally shunned as part of an "axis of evil."...

The five -- Colin Powell, Madeleine Albright, Warren Christopher, James Baker and Henry Kissinger -- all said they favored talking to Iran as part of a strategy to stop Tehran's development of a nuclear weapons program.
