The San Francisco Giants are taking the sliding scale pricing model for baseball games to a new extreme: raising prices based on scheduled pitching matchups. Now, I'm not really opposed to basing prices on the opponent or the day of the week - I'm actually surprised it wasn't done sooner. The Giants model has some obvious flaws - people are going to be pissed if they pay for these "premium" pitching matchups and then one of the starters ends up not pitching - but if it takes hold around the league, it sure as hell better take place in reverse as well.
Meaning: if the Padres are playing the Nationals on a Wednesday night, with scheduled starters Josh Geer and Scott Olsen, tickets better cost negative $20, with free concessions.
